Project Overview
The project will enable healthcare professionals to develop and improve their knowledge and skills in working with autistic patients. For this, it is necessary to guarantee the accessibility of quality healthcare for patients with ASD, by increasing awareness, knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals and medical students, so that people with ASD can be granted the same rights as all citizens of the general population.
Objectives
- 1. To identify the gaps and map existing good practices and areas needing development in terms of provision of appropriate healthcare services to individuals with ASD;
- 2. To develop a model training programme and other materials for healthcare professionals, individuals with ASD and their families, providing them with skills and strategies to effectively help individuals with ASD overcome barriers that they may experience during their visit to healthcare facilities;
- 3. To share the developed materials and training programme with stakeholders and make recommendations to national policymakers across Europe.
